Black seed oil

Been hearing a lot of great things about black seed oil from various sources, coworkers, online, etc. Looks fairly legit from looking online, but given that it benefits hair (yay...) I am a little concerned about potentially adding it to my arsenal of things.

Anyone used this stuff or have any experience with it? It doesn't appear to be a 5AR from looking online, it appears to be an antihistimine which is how it benefits hair - essentially I would just like to hear folks' opinions on it before trying it.

Insert vanity here: it is supposed to help beards that are patchy fill in - my beard has a few patches from being completely full and it frustrates the hell out of me.

Had a buddy who used super concentrated Frankincense and Black Seed to cure stage 4 cancer. Was given 2 mos to live 3 years ago.

Been using black seed oil for two weeks now, pfs sufferer here induced from saw pallmeto. Its actually worked wonders on my scalp, had extremely prolific eczema on edges of my scalp & there's nearly no trace now. I've also used herbs from cdsnuts protocol for a while & black seed oil alone has always given me a verrrry consistent & stronger boost in libido & nearly guaranteed nocturnal erections far more powerful than anything I've used in cds's protocol.

My beard/hair has definitely filled in & is more prolific too.

Interesting, I am a former PFS case from Saw Palmetto. This is what prompted me to do my research before trying this lol.

As an odd anecdote to this I've had a tested benign parotid salivary gland tumor for some years & its significantly been reduced in size. I've been on both black seed oil & hydrogen water so I'm not completely sure if its one or the other affecting it, or both in tandem but at this rate it'll surely be gone by the end of the summer.

Yep two teaspoons ingested in the morning and before bed at night has been pretty remarkable for me.

The guy on Selfhacked raves about Black seed oil, but from what I remember it was looked down upon over at RPF due to PUFA content.

Interesting. Well if it's like anything else I tried related to Ray Peat - I'll do well on it if they don't suggest it. I never had much luck with that diet or any of the recommended supplements sans caffeine and ice cream before bed.

Very interesting and informative topic. I actually really like the self hacked website but I review each point made. I missed a point regarding berberine and it’s anti dht effects. Still, black seed doesn’t seem too expensive nor loaded with risk. Pfs sufferers should avoid GLA that’s found in hemp oil, for example.

Seems like a good find. Great topic ! Thank you

Yes that's the dose I've been on for a little over 2 weeks.

Awesome. I picked up some today. Going to try it and see if this beard finally fills in.

So.....

I just did some further research and it seems that black seed oil has beta sitosterol in it. That could be a major show stopper if the amount cannot be identified. For example, eggs and avocados both have it in them, but don't really hurt anyone. Saw Palmetto has it, and well.....yeah.

Not really, according to livestrong beta sitosterols are naturally occuring in all plant foods, that would be fruits, veggies, leafygreens etc.
Fairly sure what ever there is present is negligible and a non-issue in comparison to the benefits. Unless you plan on avoiding all plant matter food wise, black seed should be a-ok imo.

I'm leaning towards the same opinion to be honest. Plus given your situation and it helping your PFS it shouldn't be anything too bad.

I took my first dose this afternoon anyway lol.
