Methylprednisolone

Hi,

I've been a lurker for some time now. I am a PFS sufferer soon to near my one year anniversary. I have a lot of questions but for now I wanted to share something with you all I recently came across and was curious if it had any merit. I try to stay away from propeciahelp as the environment is about as negative and depressing as one could imagine, however, I am constantly searching for answers as my doctors have not given me much hope whatsoever. Something that keeps me coming back here is the positive attitude and the knowledge a lot of you seem to have.

Anyways, I came across this: Methyl steroids and/or time/luck 100% cured my sexual probs

A litigation lawyer who claims that he received treatment at the Mayo Clinic via intravenous doses of Methylprednisolone and it cured him of sexual side effects. There are so many protocols available here and I am trying to gain some more insight before adding into my regimen, and I am particularly wary of anything that has a chance of lowering my baseline. As it is, I have made tremendous progress since I first crashed in August 2017, however, I am absolutely not back to normal. I have read a lot about Ella on here and other protocols and hope to add to the discussion as far as what has helped me and where I am currently at. I respect the opinions on here and this forum has given me a lot of hope, which seems to be the only thing motivating me any longer. I am curious to see what you all think of this and if it has any merit whatsoever or is a one off case.

I asked the guy what ED symptoms he definitely had. It seems that erections came back.
Another guy used Dexametasone at low dosage and cured his ED and mental issues.
I would try first dexa (look for it) and LDN AS well.
If nothing happens I would suggest infusing Methylprednisolone.
Those stories are very credible and I am not easily to convince:).

Thanks! Always encouraging to see some positive results, even if anecdotal. Trying to read through what Tubzy posted now. I am also looking into dexamethasone and LDN. Cheers

Can't find the post, but someone with post-accutane was able to resolve all their sides (sexual, brain fog etc) when taking prednisone. I think the dosage was fairly high though, and I don't believe they got any lasting benefits, but interesting nonetheless.

So, AS long AS they took predn.the sides vanished? Very interesting.
This would mean that inflammation causes sides.
Question is: what is inflamed? CNS? Gut by bacterias?
What caused this infl.? Uprising dht?
It is known (read it) that dht can cause nerve inflammation. So, body and nerves are used to low dht level, suddenly dht rises immensily.

From the Italian study, it was shown that there is neuropathy of the pudendal nerve, if these steroids act as anti inflammatory would that be any indication that it helps heal the pudenal nerve? I know from the same study that there are altered levels of neurosteroids as well so the fact that he said that his sexual symptoms were cured (pudendal nerve) but his other issues weren’t(hormonal imbalances) is this one half of the fix?

Good post.
It is known that drugs and their ingredients can be transferred from the brain via cns to the organs. Docs thought firstly it would just act in the brain.
What is not very clear so far is how a drug can change hormones, neurosteroids and this information is transferred via cns. Or: how can hormons etc.give information via the cns and the other way round.
It would be interesting if only the pudendal nerve is healed or the pathway from the brain (neurosteroids) to the nerve via cns is healed.

Found the post on the prednisone;

high dose prednisone made me feel 100% normal. I was taking it as a 15 day taper for what a doc thought was asthma. Currently doing the opposite of cortisol, blasting testosterone and NPP. I feel good, but NOTHING made me ever feel as great as prednisone. Perfect sleep, perfect energy, perfect digestion, immense mental clarity. (even though I think I read somewhere that cortisol worsens memory?) but that wasn't the case for me, if I was bored I could plan out my whole week and have 5 days go by and still remember all the planning for that day that I had made.

ehohel

This is his dosage, 15 days total;

Prednisone 60mg x5 days, 40mg x5 days, 20mg x5 days.

He reckons it shouldn't be taken long term however, and he didn't get any lasting benefits, but its interesting.

Same here, I felt better at first on dexa and prednisone, but then would make me feel worse the longer I took them. Something definitely is connected here though. Also had a complete reversal of symptoms for a week following a cortisone injection. I’m an ssri victim though.

Seems from the Melcangi study the disorder is pretty similar so I'd hope treatment protocols overlap as well. I am a bit curious about this though and might try to get a hold of some of the things you guys mentioned. Something that is so frustrating about PFS is the cyclical nature of my symptoms. Seems like I have good and bad days that are completely arbitrary.

Very interesting product... methylprednisolone has two interesting interactions...

1) Contraindicate of mifpristone : Contraindicated. Mfr. states that mifepristone is contraindicated in pts. on long term corticosteroid Tx.
2) Minor interaction: Finasteride: methylprednisolone will decrease the level or effect of finasteride by affecting hepatic/intestinal enzyme CYP3A4 metabolism. Significance unknown
Same for dutasteride

For more info on CYP3A4: CYP3A4 Enzyme: The Grapefruit Effect - Selfhacked

Well @Tbreen712 , we have some investigating to do... this guy you linked refers to an IV treatment:
"it was a 5 day treatment in Feb 2017. I went to hospital every morning for 90minutes and watched TV while 1 liter of methyl steroids were pumped into my bloodstream."

We have theorized regarding the affect on digestion or something intestinal before... perhaps the CYP3A enzyme needs to be increased or decreased to have the affect of methylprednisolone without the anti-inflammation effects of the actual drug... meaning it may help because of the side effect of the drug, not the actual drug... and it might be easier to test or experiment with that first ... just a thought but good topic. Welcome aboard

You guys know that ru is used for Cushing patients that have adrenal pituitary tumors that produce way too much cortisol. So taking any steroid would be in complete opposition to what your trying to do with ru. Just to put in perspective they are complete opposites. One kills your cortisol and one gives you steroid/cortisol.

Which could be the reason for SnapBack after RU. Your cortisol bounces back up after being starved.

whats ur argument now @Helen since u say pssd and pfs are not same and we see a pssd guy benefiting from hydrocortisone here?

what are you even talking about. SSRI people have zero acth and low cortisol , it is a known fact that they feel better on cortisol at first

Go on PSSD forum gazzillion people ran it there

you are mixing things that help people with things that cure people.

I just wrote to you 20 minutes ago that it will help you ))

prednisolone is gaba antagonist by the way.

Glucocorticoid modulates the sensitivity of the GABAA receptor on primary afferent neurons of bullfrogs. - PubMed - NCBI

you need to understand that serotonin is what increases CORTISOL, and if your serotonin does not work after SSRI , then there is no cortisol.

What effect has an GABA antagonist while in it and after?
Could it be that the GABA receptors get upsentisised while on an antagonist?
Are GABA rec. closed in some pfs guys?
A guy on pH cured his ED by getting Methylpredn.infusions. Might he cured his GABA rec.?

interesting read although it doesn't have conclusion since the OP didnt come back to report from March..
im very hesitant to jump on hydrocortisone+tribulus after i read this
progesterone is similar to hydrocortisone right @Helen?
JQD said that the only way testosterone worked for him is with hydrocortisone combo, which he later switched with t3/t4 idk why and how thyroid substitutes hydrocortisone though...

testosterone kills the cortisol axis, that is why . if you just take testosterone you feel zero cortisol

This is why people who took testosterone felt better taking progesterone at the same time, or thyroid.

try these routes, try test plus thyroid.

or test plus cortisol

See what happens.

you talk about stuff but you dont try it))
