90% of the digestion of nutrients occurs in the small intestine!
Rob of perfecthairhealth.com , probably one of the leading hair loss researchers of our time, said in one of his articles that SIBO has correlation to diffuse thinning
I wonder from a HTMA stand point too, if its related to 4 lows? I've been diagnosed with IBS before and while the fodmap diet fixed my symptoms, specifically avoiding certain foods (dairy, beans / legumes, and too much grain consumption) my symptoms always come back when I have these foods again or when my diet gets a little too relaxed.
Anyway i've been compiling some resources on this for now:
- SIBO is tested using a breath test, its around $150-200 i believe, but i've skipped this and instead have just gone straight to treating it
- Herbal Antibiotics - this link recommends some ways of treating SIBO, the herbal recommendations at the bottom are the products i've gone for. I've found that oregano oil really helps my digestion in the past, but i've never stayed on it for 4 weeks before
- An interesting way of treating SIBO "the elemental diet"; essentially you have a liquid meal replacement designed to absorb in the top part of your small intenstine only, thus starving the bacteria in the rest of your small intestine and your large intestine. After 2 weeks, 80% of people who got an abnormal breath test showed improvement. Its supposed to be the most easily digestible nutrient source possible
Should You Try an Elemental Diet for Your IBS?
- An example of an ""elemental diet" product VIVONEX® PLUS
- Another example that the public can purchase: Thorne Research, Mediclear-SGS, Vanilla, 2.36 lbs (1071 g)
- Diets recommended for those with SIBO hint: it looks a lot like meat, veggies, berries and soaked nuts. Keto / low-carb paleo generally
