Quercetin inhibits the expression and function of the androgen receptor

after a lot of talk in the upregulated androgen thread by Helen i was looking into saw P to cure this shit once n for all and i stumbled on to this:

Cure PFS and Accutane Side Effects

actually i think @PFStinks linked this on another thread, but something said in it stuck out to me "This is why I included quercetin in the protocol since it has potent androgen receptor downregulating abilities"
i had no idea quercitin had this ability so i looked it up and found this:

Anti-androgenic effects of flavonols in prostate cancer

"Myricetin, quercetin, and fisetin have a catechol or pyrogallo configuration in the B-ring which may allow them to inhibit 5α-reductase isoenzyme 1,
Quercetin has been shown to compete with testosterone at high concentrations. However, the concentrations are higher than needed for cell growth inhibition, suggesting that this is unlikely to be its main cytostatic mechanism [30]. Another study found that quercetin increases serum testosterone, and after an initial rise, decreases DHT in a dose-dependent manner in a rat mode
l."

Quercetin inhibits the expression and function of the androgen receptor in LNCaP prostate cancer cells. - PubMed - NCBI

Suppression of the androgen receptor function by quercetin through protein-protein interactions of Sp1, c-Jun, and the androgen receptor in human p... - PubMed - NCBI

"hese results suggested that c-Jun might play an important role in the suppression of AR expression and activity in the presence of quercetin, and association of a c-Jun/Sp1/AR protein complex induced by quercetin represented a novel mechanism that was involved in down-regulation of the AR function in prostate cancer cells."

this is interesting since quercitin is healthy for us and maybe could be something that can be loaded to see if any relief is felt from PFS. i assume this would only work for those who feel good when DHT is reduced.. meaning that that person has a pfs type where their recptors are either silenced or heavily upregulated... i have a feeling androgen receptro silencing is more so the issue than androgen receptor upregulation... ooooor it could be that they are in fact upregulated and thus a lot of them have been silenced due to that. who knows, but i think i want to try taking a lot of quercitin to see what happens.

what do you think @Helen

I remember I took quercetin for a while when I was still really sick., it made me very strong and remember I was swimming in the sea like crazy. I think it was the first supplement that worked for me

Not exactly, but I know that increasing dht or 5AR makes me feel worse and that some things that decrease make me feel good even tho it's usually only temporary.

I know for a fact that many of my receptors are silenced or upregulated to the point of silencing because when I actually heal new hairs sprout on face and hands and forearm. When that happens I feel great for a few days then it tapers off signifying that my body gets hit with new androgens in new receptor sites then body re-adjusts to a new homeostasis which is still a heavily silenced state and thus I'm at a better baseline, but still nothing special.

Apparently he stopped experimenting with quercetin and now he's experimenting with "soy and saw palmetto (whole herb NOT extract)"
Although he said quercetin might still be useful.

@Cdsnuts used quercetin during his recovery for a bit.

Could you explain bud?!

I might have to see if I could reach out, but I don't like soy at all... maybe quarcitin and saw p would be better..
I once took saw p for a few days before fin and it did nothing to me.. although I did have a huge spike in libido when I hopped off but could also have been a coincidence.

Looks like Histamine is involved in Androgen receptor up / downregulation?
I think I read Antihistamines can be antiandrogenic
Antihistamines like Cimetidine (Tagamet) - although H2-antagonists; that is, antacids/Anti-Acid pills. For stomach acid/GERD/Acid Reflux. These are anti-androgenic. But that's unique to those drugs "other" properties. Has NOTHING to do with Histamine. With that being said, Histamine H2R's stimulate cyclic AMP (cAMP) - which, like Forskolin (but to a Greater Degree) increases Androgen Receptors, and Testosterone Synthesis.

Dang good find! It's no wonder histidine helps so much, but maybe it's not the best to take if one is trying to lower dht.. guess it depends on which type of PFS you find yourself.

Although histidine seems to help me, but I'll have to cut it out for a tad n see what happens.
Might dose some quercitin tomorrow.

Use Lactobacilus Rhamnosus Probiotics...they downregulate the Histamine H4-Receptor [STUDY] which normally STOPS/INHIBITS Testosterone/Testicular Function [STUDY]. Use it long-term, then L-Histidine only hits the H1/H2/H3. If you block H3 too, with Kutaj/Conessine. Then you get only H1/H2 activation - thus you get TOTAL whole-body Histaminergic-stimulation. I'd warn you though. That could be a Recipe for an uncontrollable sex-binge. Something you might Regret later, heheheheh. @Helen

Been taking 3 x 200mg of quercetin daily for a few months, basically due to its anti inflammatory properties, but can’t say I’ve really noticed much from it. I did run out for a week or two, and there was no snap back or anything in that period.

Might require high doses for the effects being discusssed here
